The aim of this series is to bring together all the official Parliamentary documents relating to the passage of a Bill into an Act of the Scottish Parliament. This volume provides an authoritative record of the parliamentary proceedings leading to the enactment of the Passage of the Abolition of Poindings and Warrant Sales Bill 1999. This Act amends the Debtors (Scotland) Act 1987 by abolishing the right of creditors to carry out poindings and warrant sales of their debtor's assets. Poinding and Warrant Sales give bailiffs the right to enter the homes of anyone not paying rent, draw up an inventory of their possessions and then sell them.
