This report gives the results of a premliminary mapping exercise investigating training provisions in health and safety enforcement for Local Environmental Health Officers, technicians and other local authority personnel involved in enforcement work. The results suggest that the provision of training, and the extent to which it is undergone, is patchy overall, and subject to the vagaries of local financial and political policy.
