The main United Kingdom, or Prime Minister's list, details the people from all walks of life awarded honours for the New Year 2015. Separate lists are also published for honours awarded in a number of dependencies and overseas territories; 1,251 people are honoured with 69% of recipients being recognised for outstanding work within their communities.

Recipients span from statesmen, to captains of industry, inventors, actors and musicians and other major contributors to the life of the United Kingdom, its territories and dependencies.

This year ceramic artist Paul Cummins and theatre designer Tom Piper are both made MBEs (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in recognition of their work "Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red", the installation in rememberance of the centenary of the outbreak of World War One, which attracted five million visitors.

Popular actors are also recognised with Joan Collins and Kristin Scott Thomas both becoming dames and John Hurt receiving a knighthood; while Emily Watson, James Corden and Sheridan Smith are all to be honoured with OBEs (Officer of the Order of the British Empire).
