TSO (The Stationery Office)

This Act allows authorised central and local government officers to require certain private and public sector organisations to provide information in connection with fraud enquiries. It also enables information to be exchanged on a reciprocal basis with overseas authorities and between benefit administration authorities. There is also the introduction of "three strikes and you're out" for repeated benefit offences. Certain benefits may be reduced or withdrawn where a person is convicted of committing benefit offences twice in three years.

Explanatory notes to assist in the understanding of this Act have also been produced and are available to order here.
