Measures in this Act include: the establishment of a Police Improvement Agency; standardising the powers of Community Support Officers (CSOs) and aligning the Basic Command Unit and Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership boundaries with local authorities. The Act also aims to tackle anti-social behaviour by widening the number of agencies that can apply for parenting orders; providing CSOs with the power to return truants to school; and giving Trading Standards Officers the power to issue Penalty Notices for Disorder to clamp down on licensed premises that sell alcohol to under-18s.
