to reform school inspections in England in order to introduce a new system of more regular, lighter touch inspections, with powers for the National Assembly for Wales to introduce similar reforms in the future;
to extend in England and Wales the circumstances in which a local education authority must invite proposals for a new or replacement secondary school;
to broaden the objectives of the Teacher Training Agency;
and miscellaneous provision relating to maintained schools, information sharing and attendance for excluded pupils at alternative education provision.
