This report provides a review of current blockage effects on space-frame structures. A space-frame structure impedes the flow when placed in a steady current, causing an overall reduction in current velocity within the structure area and its wake. This phenomenon is known as "current blockage". Experimental evidence indicates that current blockage is a real and significant physical phenomenon. Current blockage is very large for congested structures, such as guyed and compliant towers. It is smaller for conventional jacket structures, but is by no means insignificant.
