The year 2005 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Scottish Law Commission. This publication sets out the Commissions seventh law reform programme to identify areas of the law which require reform, following extensive consultation with the legal profession and the public; as well as incorporating details of ongoing work from the sixth programme. The report contains details of short, medium and long term projects within the five year programme from the beginning of 2005 to the end of 2009. These relate to four topics carried over from the previous programme: leasehold tenure; land registration; trusts; and judicial factors; as well as four new projects regarding the law of inheritance; intangible assets; unincorporated associations; and the defences of provocation, self-defence, coercion and necessity.
