This report estimates the economics and employment statistics for marine activities in the UK economy. It demonstrates the significant economic contribution that marine activities make to the UK and to providing employment within the UK. The report also reminds us of the extraordinary diversity of marine-related activities and provides an accessible guide to their relative contribution to the UK economy.

Marine activities are broken down into 18 sectors and dealt withindividually, identifying the fastest growing. The report also discusses the feasibility of generating a regular marine economics indicator, as is now being attempted for the USA and Canada.
