Most treatments for nausea are given in advance to prevent the onset of symptoms. Because emergency evacuations allow little time for such preparations, there is a need for rapidly acting, easily absorbed anti-emetic drugs. This review aims to assess the range of anti-emetic medications currently available and suitable for the treatment of motion sickness, with emphasis placed on routes of delivery, time of onset, duration of action and unwanted side-effects.
